The theme of the
2016-2017 Uni Papua Football Community programme supported by Football For
Hope in Indonesia is: “Football
Among Tribes.” The background of this program is knowing
that many of our brothers and sisters in Indonesia come from different tribes and
tongues and still live in the rural area and lack of social interaction and
development access, therefore we created this program to give social awareness to all of the
layers of society about this issue.
The
aim of this program is part of ‘social inclusion programme’ to introduce
football program of Uni Papua to our brothers and sisters, to
give them football training equipment, to teach the children how to play
football and incorporate them with some educational materials, also to share the knowledge about
health, peace, and humanity. Uni Papua will giving balls from One World Football, game and
play material from Coaches Across Continents.
The
Football among tribes program will first start on 2016 in a small tribe called
Elseng from 10th- 16th of February. The people who
live among this tribe are called “Nomad” they never stay at one place but rather
move from one place to another. Sometimes they will walk few kilometers from their tribe
and we can find them in nearest village such as Kemtu Gresi. To reach the Elseng tribe from
the capital city we need to take 5 hours car ride to Kemtu Gresi and then continue the journey
with 5-8 hours of walking distance.
Uni Papua FC will support
Elseng tribe with the voluntary act of help from Glaiton Batista, a
young football coach from
Brazil, the manager program Yan. F. Pepuho, the instructor of Uni
Papua FC from Sorong, Frans
Praibabo, and Demianus Howay, former Uni Papua player from
Maybrat who has been
coached with the PSSI FIFA Elite and went to South Korea and Malaysia for
